H. H. Schulte was born November 5, 1842 near Bielefeld, Germany. His father, Henry Schulte, came
to America in 1851. His family followed him two years later. H. H. Schulte learned the gunsmith's
trade in Pittsburg. In 1864 he enlisted into the army. After the Civil War he returned
to his trade, working for William Craig, Pittsburg, whom he bought out later. Schulte stayed into
the gun business until the fall of 1879. In 1880 he embarked in the grocery business at St. Louis,
where he stayed until 1887. In 1887 or 1888 he returned to Pennsylvania and conducted a
general grocery store in Glenfield. .45 caliber percussion, single shot target pistol, 10" octagonal barrel, marked H.H. SCHULTE PITTSBURGH left side right side Half stock percussion target rifle A Wincheser, Model 1873 One of One Thousand, has been observed with "Remington Twist bbl." which was considered the highest grade. The barrel is octagonal and of heavy weight. Its length is 27 " which is unusual on a Winchester. The top of the barrel is stamped "H. H. SCHULTE PITTSBURGH" |
